Sheffield United have signed Manchester United winger Alyssa Aherne on a season-long loan.
She signed her first professional contract with Manchester United in May 2023, after making her first team debut in the 4-0 League Cup victory over the Blades in December that same season.
A forward who predominantly plays on the right, Aherne gained vital first team experience at Burnley before last season being loaned out to WSL outfit Everton for the first half of the campaign.
Aherne scored twice for her side in the FA Girls’ Youth Cup final against Birmingham City back in 2022 and has been capped by the England youth teams, bringing extra quality to the Blades attack ahead of the new season.
Blades’ Head coach Ash Thompson said: “We’ve had to bide our time with Alyssa but she’s been someone we’ve been really keen to bring in and we’re really pleased to have got her signing over the line.
“She fills another key role for us as a versatile forward and she has plenty of talent to make an impact in the attacking areas of the team.”
