Despite comfortably dominating possession, United struggled to create a significant number of chances against the newly promoted side.

Michael Carrick had to turn to Marcus Rashford in the second half as both Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo looked toothless.

Injury update on Amad

Amad was one of Manchester United’s standout players during pre-season. However, he did not travel for the away fixture, with Michael Carrick confirming the right winger picked up a niggle in training.

However, it has now emerged that the injury setback is much worse than initially feared.

According to Sully, who is a reliable source for all things United, Amad could be out for upto six weeks following initial test scans.

It is understood United are waiting for more test results to better understand the situation, but “the early signs are not looking too positive.”

Amad faces lengthy layoff

If the reported timeline is correct, then the Ivory Coast international will be out of action until the end of September.

As such, Amad will not be available for selection until after the first international break, which begins on Monday, 21 September, and ends on Tuesday, 6 October.

During this period, the 24-year-old will miss United’s next four Premier League games, a Champions League match, as well as a Carabao Cup third round tie.

However, this may prove to be a blessing in disguise for Shea Lacey, who came off the bench late in the afternoon against Hull City.

The 19-year-old was also a promising figure during pre-season and should see his minutes increase in Amad’s absence.
