The AFCON winners drew 1-1 against Norway, with the Eintracht forward coming off the bench. For Rasmus Kristensen and Denmark, sport faded into the background.
Final preparations complete, let the 23rd FIFA World Cup begin! Before the 48 nations battle it out for the World Cup title in Canada, Mexico and USA from 11 June to 19 July, the last warm-up match with Eintracht involvement took place on Sunday. Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab and Morocco faced Norway in Harrison, New Jersey.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with Amaimouni-Echghouyab introduced in the 64th minute. The Frankfurt winger won half of his duels and registered two interceptions as well as an attempt off target.
Rasmus Kristensen came on at a similar point in the friendly between Denmark and Ukraine, who both didn’t qualify for the World Cup. However, his appearance proved to be largely insignificant. Just four minutes after the Eintracht defender entered the field in Odense, referee Sigurd Kringstard halted the match with the score at 2-1 to the Danes, after VfL Wolfsburg midfielder Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch. The Danish Football Association has since given the all-clear, with the team doctor providing an update on Monday morning: “He is doing well. He is with his family and in good spirits. The expectation is that he will be discharged soon and can return home.” We wish Eriksen a speedy recovery!Mexico and South Africa open the World Cup on Thursday in Mexico City, where kick-off is at 21:00 CEST. The first Eagle is in action 48 hours later as Aurèle Amenda and Switzerland meet Qatar.
