Uncertainty over Amar Dedić’s fitness is reshaping Benfica’s right flank, handing Alexander Bah an opening as the league run-in begins.

According to A Bola, the number six appears fully fit to re-enter José Mourinho’s plans, and, with Dedić managing physical issues, Bah is strengthening his case to be first choice for the remaining Liga Portugal Betclic rounds.

Since returning from an injury that kept him out for more than a year, Bah has started three Benfica matches, against AFS, Arouca and Vitória de Guimarães, which ended 3-0, 2-1 and 3-0 respectively.

He is expected to start against Casa Pia because the Bosnian is suspended.

His Denmark call-up also works in his favour. After a strong display in the 4-0 win over North Macedonia, there is a strong chance he starts again against Czechia on Tuesday, 31 March.

Benfica are monitoring both players’ condition with the league run-in in mind. With Banjaqui as the third option, Mourinho hopes to have the squad in peak shape for the derby at Sporting on 19 April at Alvalade.
