According to Glorioso 1904, Amar Dedic was left out of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 3-1 game against Qatar as Sergej Barbarez managed the Benfica right-back’s fitness. After rumours he could miss the rest of the World Cup, the situation does not appear as serious.
Barbarez said Dedic could have played but the risk was too high. He noted the defender remains available if required, and he instead started Malic.
He stressed that avoiding any aggravation of the issue was the priority while the squad manage workload.
Bosnia and Herzegovina finished the group stage in third on 4 points, leaving qualification for the next phase still open. Switzerland topped the section with 7 points, Canada were second with 4, and Qatar finished bottom with 1.
For Benfica in 2025/26, Dedic played 43 competitive matches, 24 in Liga Portugal Betclic, 14 in the Champions League, three in the Taça de Portugal, one in the Taça da Liga and one in the Supertaça. Across 3,511 minutes he scored one goal and provided four assists, and he is valued at 16 million euros.
