Club América begin their Apertura 2026 campaign away to Querétaro at Estadio Corregidora on Saturday, but they will travel short-handed.

According to Americayya.net, América have yet to register any signings, leaving an incomplete group described as among the club's weakest in recent years.

Head coach Guillermo Almada is set to draft in several academy players to complete the matchday squad.

The most significant absentee is Alejandro Zendejas, the number 10 underwent a knee clean-up procedure and is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks.

Israel Reyes, Brian Rodríguez and Sebastián Cáceres, who were at the World Cup, only reported back in Coapa on Monday. They are not expected to be available until matchday two against Atlante.

Querétaro would not typically be viewed as a major hurdle, although given América's shortages it may not be straightforward.
