América Femenil have officially joined Queens League México, the Fútbol 7 tournament. They are one of 10 teams this season and are the first professional side to take part, with a Kings League also running.
According to Americayya.net, the move is intended to help the club grow beyond top-flight football by stepping into a rapidly expanding competition.
Queens League is seven-a-side, with 40-minute matches, 20 per half, and special rules decided by dice rolls. Teams usually have a president who can even step on to take a penalty, though América Femenil have not yet announced who will fill that role.
The squad for the tournament comprises: Alondra Tinajero, Jazmín Reyes, Karen Hernández, Melissa Arredondo, Brenda Sosa, Dayana Cazares, Hireri Velázquez, Nicole Castillo, Verónica Pérez, Vianey Blanquel, Daniela Sánchez and Fernanda Piña.
Dayana Cazares and Fernanda Piña previously featured for América Femenil’s first team.
The debut comes tonight against Las Aliens at 07:00PM, with coverage available on Queens League social media channels.
