América have enjoyed a standout 2026, winning virtually every competition they have entered, with the Concacaf W Champions Cup the headline triumph.

They beat Gotham FC in the semi-finals and Washington Spirit in the final to lift that trophy. The NWSL is widely regarded as a top league globally.

On the domestic front they also won the Liga Femenil BBVA and the Campeón de Campeonas, confirming their status as Mexico's champions.

The award was introduced in 2023, with Barcelona winning it in 2023 and 2024 and Arsenal taking the 2025 edition.
