América gave their fans north of the border plenty to cheer as they overcame Chivas in a Super Clásico friendly between the two sides in Texas on Sunday.
The Azulcrema hit the front inside the opening minute at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas as their high pressing caught Chivas off guard.
América midfielder Pedro Aquina nipped in ahead of his counterpart Fernando Beltrán to find Federico Viñas unmarked in the penalty area.
The striker, who has struggled for game time under manager Santiago Solari, showed he still knows where the target is by rifling a left-footed effort through the legs of goalkeeper Raúl Gudiño.
While it was a friendly in name, there was no quarter asked or given in a typically fractious encounter between these fierce rivals.
Ronaldo Cisneros came close to equalising late on for Los Rojiblancos, but he was denied by a combination of goalkeeper Óscar Jiménez and centre-back Jordan Silva as they prevented his lob crossing the line.
América then rubbed salt in the would at the other end as 19-year-old Emilio Lara lashed home from close range in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
