América name Apertura 2026 squad, Da Conceicao promoted, Espinosa left off | OneFootball

Club América are two days from their Apertura 2026 opener away to Querétaro at Estadio Corregidora. The tournament begins today, and their registered squad has been confirmed with a few surprises.

According to Americayya.net, the list appears under the heading "El plantel del América para el Apertura 2026". América have registered four goalkeepers, because Luis Ángel Malagón will be back in a couple of months: Luis Malagón, Fernando Tapia, Rodolfo Cota and César Lugo.

In defence, there are two additions compared with last term. The registered defenders are Emilio Lara, Israel Reyes, Sebastián Cáceres, Kevin Álvarez, Franco Rossano, Cristian Borja, Ramón Juárez and Miguel Vázquez.

Midfield provides the big surprise, as Ícaro Da Conceicao, an academy product, has been promoted and will be registered as a foreign player due to his Brazilian nationality. The other midfielders registered are Alejandro Zendejas, Isaías Violante, Alan Cervantes, Alexis Gutiérrez, Raphael Veiga, Erick Sánchez, Dagoberto Espinosa, Santiago Naveda and Miguel Ramírez.

In attack, Esteban Lozano returns from a loan at Puebla. Also registered are Brian Rodríguez, Henry Martín, José Zúñiga and Patricio Salas.

Thiago Espinosa has not been registered, so his departure is a fact. Registrations can still change, with possible arrivals and exits.
