América face Juárez on Friday in matchday five of the Apertura 2026.
According to Americayya.net, América arrive as favourites. They are unbeaten in seven matches, with five wins and two draws, have booked a Leagues Cup quarter-final place and lead the Apertura with 10 points from 12.
Juárez have opened with four defeats, to Puebla, Chivas, Pumas and Monterrey, and have the league’s leakiest defence with 13 conceded, 11 of them against Pumas and Monterrey. Their Leagues Cup run brought two wins over Minnesota and Vancouver, but they went out after a heavy loss to Real Salt Lake.
América’s omissions for this fixture include Alejandro Zendejas, their number 10, who remains in recovery and, if all goes well, would return during September. Goalkeeper Luis Malagón is over his injury and played for the Under-21s last weekend. The idea is for him to regain rhythm, so his first-team return would come late in the month.
José Zúñiga is largely outside the coaching staff’s plans, so it is very likely he leaves the club. New arrival Miguel Borja has only just joined, so his debut will take at least a couple of weeks.
