After Agustín Marchesín signed with Porto, América has been given the task of looking for a goalkeeper and have already been turned down by the likes of Esteban Andrada, Tiago Volpi, and Gerónimo Rulli.
Now, according to Record, Venezuelan international goalkeeper Wuilker Fariñez, who currently plays for Colombian side Millonarios, has catapulted to the top of América’s list of candidates.
In an interview with TUDN, Fariñez’s father confirmed that his son had not received any concrete offers but hopes that he can make the move to one of Mexico’s most historic sides.
“I know the same as you: they are rumors, we still have nothing on the table. We have not talked to America, an offer has not arrived, so in the meantime, Wuilker will continue with his Millonarios.
“Let it be what God wants. Hopefully it will happen, which is what we all want, to play for great club like América.”
At just 21 years old, Fariñez is already considered one of the best goalkeepers in all of South America and has established himself as Venezuela’s number one option, earning 18 caps to date.
Fariñez has, so far, featured 133 times at the club level with both Caracas and Millonarios.
He earned his move to the Colombian outfit after impressing with Venezuela at the 2017 U-20 World Cup, helping his side reach the final.
