América defender Bruno Valdez has revealed that his ambition is to earn a move to Spain if and when he leaves the club.
The 29-year-old Paraguay international has been with the Azulcrema since 2016, but claims he and the club’s hierarchy are on the same page in terms of his future plans.
“I have a contract with the institution until June 2023. They know what we think, they gave me their opinion. It has to suit the club and me too. They know the dream I have,” Valdez told the El Sueño Europeo YouTube channel recently.
Valdez suggested that there has been interest from across the pond before, but a serious knee injury and a prohibitive price tag saw him remain at the Estadio Azteca.
“Let’s say they put a very high price on me, it was a very high price,” Valdez said.
“It had to be a team that had the wallet and said ‘yes I want it and I do carry it’.
“Very grateful because that high price also made me able to quote myself quite well, be in the sights of great teams.”
With his current deal running until summer 2023, any potential suitors may be able to get him on a cut-price deal should Las Águilas look to cash in rather than lose Valdez for nothing.
