Amine Gouiri and Hamed Junior Traoré have rejoined OM’s group sessions, offering timely reinforcements for 2026. They resumed team training on 28 December.
According to L'Équipe, the winter window has only just opened and OM effectively regain two players rather than sign them, after weeks out in the first half of the season that left their involvement minimal.
Gouiri suffered a right shoulder injury after a heavy collision with Uganda’s goalkeeper while playing for Algeria in October. Surgery followed, ruling him out of around 15 OM matches and the Africa Cup of Nations.
Traoré was back in the main sessions and was set to travel to Bourg-en-Bresse for the Coupe de France, before the staff reversed course. De Zerbi and his assistants prefer caution after the setbacks that marked his early months.
He sustained a right thigh muscle injury in September and relapsed at least once, which led to the physio overseeing his rehab being sidelined, although the club has not confirmed this. Since arriving late in the summer window on loan with an option to buy from Bournemouth, the Ivorian has not completed a full match and has made only one appearance, against Lyon.
Both players have delivered positive signs in recent group sessions. There is a chance they feature against Nantes on Sunday, though Gouiri has not trained every day and still needs to manage contact.
