Amine Gouiri released to return to Marseille after quadriceps issue with Algeria | OneFootball

Algeria forward Amine Gouiri suffered a quadriceps problem early against Zambia on Friday in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, and has been released to return to Marseille for treatment.

After the 3-1 win in Tizi Ouzou, coach Brahim Hemdani said he was withdrawn in the 17th minute with a left quadriceps alert. The Algerian federation said in a statement that tests on Saturday found only traces of a small lesion, without detailing the extent.

He will continue his recovery at the Commanderie.

Tizi Ouzou has been a troublesome venue for him with the national team. In October 2025 he suffered a serious shoulder injury there in a collision with Uganda’s goalkeeper, underwent immediate surgery and missed the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The 26-year-old will now focus on preparing upcoming club fixtures.
