Amorim Already Called In for a Meeting with Milan Owner | OneFootball

Milan have fared increasingly worse after an encouraging start, and coach Ruben Amorim had to explain some of his choices and remarks to Gerry Cardinale. The boss isn’t at risk, but the tycoon isn’t pleased with the last two performances, in particular the Benfica one, La Repubblica reports.

The governor asked for the reasons for the recurring slow starts. The Rossoneri have yet to score in first halves and have generally looked much better after the interval thanks to the subs. Plus, they don’t have the aggressive and dominant identity the governor wanted when he hired the manager.

Amorim has continuously tweaked the XI and changed the positions of some Milan players, leading to confusion rather than taking opponents by surprise. The gaffer is firmly at the helm, as he’s central to the project. He heavily contributed to the transfer market, as the Rossoneri didn’t hire new directors after parting ways with almost their entire front office.

Yet, the former Manchester United boss has already raised doubts about the squad he helped build and for which the governor shelled out over €150M, primarily for the acquisitions of Gonçalo Ramos, Diego Moreira, and Mario Gila. The coach inked a three-year contract with €5M wages.

It’s basically a two-man show, given the weak make-up of their front office, so things can easily unravel when one party stops trusting the other. While they have had many flaws, they weren’t too quick to build the roster, and several players are coming off the World Cup. It’s too early to judge properly, but surely the boss could bite his tongue a little more in his pressers.
