Amorim confirms goalkeeper decision for Manchester Derby | OneFootball

Ruben Amorim has confirmed Altay Bayindir will start in goal for Manchester United at Manchester City this weekend.

United signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp on deadline day but the Belgian shot-stopper will have to wait for his debut. Amorim is set to place his trust in Bayindir, despite the Turkish international’s unconvincing performances.

Bayindir was at fault for Arsenal’s winner at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the season, but Amorim is confident the 27-year-old can perform.

“Altay is going to continue. It is a different league, a different country, different training, different ball. So we will try to maintain that and they will fight for the position but for me in this game is clear, Altay will start.”

On Lammens, who made more saves than any other goalkeeper across Europe’s top 10 league last season, Amorim said: “He is a goalkeeper with a lot of potential. I know that we are in a moment where the goalkeeper needs to be really strong and have a lot of experience.

“We are also in the moment where we have to look at the present but also with a focus on the future – so it is a little bit of both. He’s a guy with a great potential that is one more option [for us] to play, and he will be ready.”
