Manchester United have joined the chase for Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, news that should theoretically delight Ruben Amorim.
Last summer, the Premier League giants identified Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo as their main targets from the get-go. They vigorously chased the Premier League duo and succeeded in signing them.
On the contrary, their centre-forward chase took several twists and turns. The Red Devils pursued a host of targets, including Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, before eventually settling on Benjamin Sesko.

At the time, it was said that the Slovenian bomber was handpicked by the club’s Head of Recruitment, Christopher Vivell, who had already worked with the player in the past, while Amorim wanted a more experienced profile, one more familiar with the Premier League, namely Ollie Watkins.
In the end, the Portuguese didn’t get this way, and one might wonder if INEOS regret their choice, as Sesko has only scored twice since arriving at Carrington in August.
According to The Daily Briefing, Man Utd could rectify the situation by targeting Guirassy, a 29-year-old striker who has outscored Sesko in the Bundesliga in the two previous campaigns, whether during his time at Dortmund or with his previous employers, Stuttgart.
The source adds that Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the Guinean. However, with Viktor Gyokeres starting to find his feet at the Emirates, and Gabriel Jesus looking set to stay, the Gunners might not have a place to accommodate Guirassy. The same goes for Chelsea, who already have enough options up front.
While this isn’t the first time United are linked with Guirassy, the interest could be genuine this time, as Amorim’s side does indeed require a mobile and clinical No.9 capable of translating his chances to goals.
The Arles native appears to be the ideal choice for the role, but he remains tied to BVB with a contract running until 2028, while Transfermarkt estimates his value at €45 million. TM also mentions interest from Barcelona.
Guirassy is unlikely to leave Signal Iduna Park in the middle of the campaign, but Man Utd should stand a chance at landing him in the summer, especially if they secure a return to Europe.
