Robinson has emerged as a Bluebirds manager contender, but not everyone is a fan...

Cardiff City face new surroundings next season after suffering their first relegation to League One since its inception 20 years ago, and are keen to make sure they appoint the right leader to take them back up.
Surprisingly though, Salford City boss Karl Robinson has emerged as a candidate for the role, according to a report from Football Insider, following Omer Riza’s dismissal last month.
Midfielder Aaron Ramsey took control of the Bluebirds for the final three games of the season but couldn’t guide them to survival, and now, Robinson is one of the first names to be named that is being considered to take the club forward as they attempt to reclaim their second tier status as soon as possible.
Robinson has been described as a "top contender" for the role, and he has plenty of League One experience, having won promotion from that level with MK Dons in 2015.
Despite the Bluebirds reportedly holding an interest in the former MK Dons boss, FLW's resident Bluebirds fan pundit, Matt Hall, doesn’t share the same view, with owner Vincent Tan told not to bother appointing the 44-year-old.
“For me it’s an absolute strong no,” Matt told FLW.
“I think you're looking at a manager who is on a downward trend. If you look at him a few years ago when he was at MK Dons, he was a positive up-and-coming young manager that was on an upward trajectory but ever since then, every job he's taken, he's moved down and down, and he's now in League Two with Salford.
“Not to be too harsh, but they did bottle the play-offs on the final day against Carlisle and the fan base at the moment is in a very negative place.
“Cardiff are looking for a managerial appointment that transcends League One, someone that we see getting us into the Championship when we get promoted again, that could stay with us for a few years.
“Karl Robinson, I look at him and I think we'd be lucky to get out of League One with a manager of that calibre and if we did, we'd have no hope in the Championship with him.
“I think it's a very, very important appointment that we've got to make, and we need to be more ambitious with it if we can. So I'm looking at managers with higher coaching ability, and reputation to rebuild this football club in some ways.”
Although Robinson has the experience and know-how to steady a ship that has been massively out of control at Cardiff, the Bluebirds fans will surely be hoping for a more exciting appointment to guide them back up the Football League.
Promotion from League One is a task he knows how to complete, but that came a decade ago and since then hasn’t managed to hit the same heights.
After a campaign of disappointment and dullness, the Bluebirds’ faithful will be looking for an invigorating manager that can inspire them once more.
This means that the higher-ups at Cardiff might be better suited to aim elsewhere, and if Charlton don't get promoted through the play-offs, you have to wonder if boyhood fan Nathan Jones will be in the mix.
Whatever the next steps are in Cardiff’s recruitment process, a move for Karl Robinson just doesn’t feel like the right move, and one that the Bluebirds should probably opt against.
