Brazilian winger Savinho has missed the first three games of the new season for Manchester City. As speculation swirled around his future at the club, Savinho sustained an injury that kept him out of action. With the international break in full swing, the Brazilian international has returned to training. That is a massive boost for Pep Guardiola’s side, who face three difficult fixtures immediately after the international break.
CityXtra has reported that Savinho has resumed training. Furthermore, it is reported that the Brazilian international is ramping up his training ahead of next weekend’s derby against Manchester United. The injury sustained by Savinho wasn’t specified by Pep Guardiola as per CityXtra’s report. But it now seems that Savinho is over his injury issues.
The seemingly imminent return of Savinho is good news for Manchester City. They have missed Savinho’s pace and trickery in wide areas, especially in their past two matches. The Brazilian international is a different type of player to Oscar Bobb on the right wing. Savinho has the pace and delivery that, at times, Pep Guardiola’s side has lacked. The hope is that he can return to the pitch sooner rather than later. Especially considering that Manchester City face Manchester United, Napoli and Arsenal in their next three matches in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League respectively.
With Rayan Cherki sidelined for two months, Manchester City will be eager for Savinho to return to action. They will need his creativity, pace and delivery from out wide. The hope is that he can return to Pep Guardiola’s squad after the current international break.
