Manchester City have bolstered their midfield this summer with the signings of Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki. With the signing of the pair, the City midfield does appear to have a new look. Adding Cherki and Reijnders to a midfield that consists of Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden, and Nico does give Pep Guardiola a host of midfield options to deploy. Looking at that list there doesn’t seem to be any need for Manchester City to sign another midfielder this summer.

A new report from Tom Collomosse for the Daily Mail indicates that Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is open to a move to the Etihad this summer. While Gibbs-White would add more quality to Manchester City’s midfield, it doesn’t seem like there is any need right now for City to sign another midfielder.

Morgan Gibbs-White remains open to a move to Manchester City.

Tom Collomosse reports for the Daily Mail that Morgan Gibbs-White remains open to a summer transfer to Manchester City. Furthermore, Collomosse reports that it is unknown if City will make a move for the England international later this summer. Collomosse further reports that Nottingham Forest would demand a transfer fee of at least £70 million to sell Gibbs-White. Lastly, Collomosse reports that Nottingham Forest aren’t under any financial pressure to sell an important player this summer.

Unless there is a key departure from Manchester City’s midfield it seems unlikely they would move for Gibbs-White.

Currently, there wouldn’t appear to be a need for Manchester City to sign another midfielder. Pep Guardiola’s squad is stacked with quality options in midfield. Unless a player like Ilkay Gundogan departs the club, there looks to be more pressing needs in the transfer market for Hugo Viana and company to address. One of those would seemingly be at right-back. That would seem to be the biggest hole in Pep Guardiola’s squad.

Manchester City’s signings of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders would seem to close the door on any potential City move to sign Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest. Gibbs-White is a quality player and he would add attributes that could further improve Manchester City’s engine room. It would seem highly unlikely that City will renew their interest in the England international barring the departure of a midfielder or two later this summer.
