Character, courage, and clinical finishing defined the comeback led by Chivas Femenil on Monday night in the Clásico Tapatío, overturning a two-goal deficit to defeat Atlas 4-2 at Estadio AKRON in Matchday 9 of the Clausura 2026. Antonio Contreras’ squad reached 22 points and climbed into second place in the overall standings.
The match had two very distinct phases. Two specific mistakes cost Las Rojiblancas early, sending them into halftime trailing 0-2, compounded by the imprecision that comes with the urgency to turn things around as quickly as possible.
But the coach had the final say. He made changes at halftime that immediately altered the flow of the game. Jasmine Casarez and Viridiana Salazar were introduced to inject speed into the attack, and later Adriana “Boyi” Iturbide added more offensive firepower. The adjustments paid off: “La Doctora” scored the equalizer, and Jasmine sealed the victory with a brace of outstanding quality. All of it backed by the admirable effort of every Chivas player throughout the 90+ minutes.
With this massive boost, Chivas Femenil will now face El Clásico de México at the Rojiblanca Fortress, hosting América on Matchday 10 of CL26 next Sunday, February 22 at 5 PM.
