In a surprising twist, the Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) has officially dropped its long-standing pursuit of Carlo Ancelotti, according to a report from SPORT.
The Real Madrid manager, who was once the dream appointment for the Brazilian national team, is no longer in contention to lead the Selecao—even if he parts ways with Los Blancos at the end of the season.
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues has reportedly grown weary of the uncertainty and complications surrounding Ancelotti’s availability.
Despite months of speculation linking the Italian tactician with the Brazil job, the wait-and-see approach ultimately proved too unstable for the federation.
As a result, Rodrigues has moved swiftly to secure the services of Jorge Jesus, who is currently coaching Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.

Jesus has already given the green light to the CBF and will become the first foreign manager in the history of Brazil’s national team.
Unlike Ancelotti, who was reportedly unwilling to miss the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, Jesus has agreed to forego that competition in order to take charge of the Selecao.
His commitment to Brazil is underlined by a completed salary agreement and a short-term contract, which will run until the conclusion of the next World Cup.
Although official announcements will be held off until after the Copa America, all major details are said to be finalised.
While Jesus initially wanted to finish the Saudi league—set to end on May 26—there is a growing possibility he could step down sooner to begin his new journey with Brazil.
Meanwhile, Ancelotti’s own future remains clouded in uncertainty. His results this season, particularly in key Champions League moments, have not strengthened his case for staying at Real Madrid.
While some reports suggest Florentino Perez may be considering alternatives at season’s end, the Italian’s potential landing spots are now more limited, especially with Brazil closing the door.
