Lucas Vazquez has been a decent stand-in for the injured Dani Carvajal in Real Madrid’s right-back department. However, his quality on the big nights has always remained under question and the club thus see a pressing need to bring in a new name.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is a name that Real Madrid admire on that front, especially given that the player is in the final six months of his contract.
As it stands, everything appears to be in place for the Liverpool star to arrive in June. The team, however, are trying hard to enable an arrival as early as this month.
Real Madrid will initiate contacts and make an attempt this week to sign Alexander-Arnold immediately. Should he not arrive, however, MARCA reveal that Carlo Ancelotti has his backup.

The Castilla team’s Lorenzo Aguado is a player the Italian tactician has admired for a long time and he will turn to the youngster if the Liverpool star decides to arrive only in June.
The 22-year-old made his debut for the first team in Real Madrid’s clash against Deportivo Minera in the Copa del Rey earlier this year, starting and playing 63 minutes on the night.
In that duration, he completed 100% of his passes, made four defensive actions, and was not dribbled past even once.
Aguado has 11 appearances in the Primera Federacion this season and has racked up one goal and one assist for Real Madrid Castilla. His availability would help Vazquez get more rest and turn up better for the big games until the summer.
The 22-year-old right-back was in the squad for the cup tie earlier this week and has been included once again for today’s La Liga encounter against Las Palmas. It will be interesting to see if he gets any minutes.
