Ander Herrera has left Boca Juniors after agreeing to terminate his contract, which was due to run until December 2026.
According to SuperDepor.com, the parting was by mutual consent and on good terms.
The Spaniard joined Boca in January 2025, but persistent fitness issues disrupted his rhythm.
He endured seven injury layoffs, five across 2025 and two in 2026, requiring repeated recovery periods and restricting his involvement.
Herrera made 29 competitive appearances and scored once, against Barcelona of Ecuador at La Bombonera in the Copa Libertadores.
His exit comes as Boca reshape the squad after a difficult first half of 2026, marked by eliminations in the Torneo Apertura and the Libertadores group stage.
The board are working with coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena on plans for the second part of the 2026 season. As he prepares to arrive in the country, he remains in regular contact with club president Juan Román Riquelme over squad building for upcoming fixtures.
Herrera’s departure is among the earliest moves in that restructuring.
