Anderlecht considering Thorsten Fink as Besnik Hasi’s replacement

As reported by HLN, Thorsten Fink has already been sounded out by Anderlecht as a possible replacement for the recently departed Besnik Hasi. The former Sint Truiden and Genk head coach has been out of work for a few months since being sacked by the latter. Anderlecht are keen to get a head coach who isn’t currently employed in order to avoid having to spend money to release them from an already agreed contract. Fink is just one candidate they are exploring, and for now Edward Still, brother of former Southampton head coach Will Still, is taking over as an interim head coach.

Just a few seasons ago, Anderlecht fans might have been more positive about the potential of bringing in Fink. During his time at Sint Truiden his side played excellent football and utilised the young talent within the club. Anderlecht have one of the strongest academies in Belgian football, so a team up with Fink could help bring through some of these players. However, his time at Genk did not go as well. The side were competing for the title last season until they fell away during the play-offs. They started this season poorly and Fink was sacked, with Club Brugge head coach Nicky Hayen replacing him after he too was sacked by his club.
