Liverpool still have a lot of work to do to their team before the transfer window slams shut.

They now have less than 48 hours to get all of their ducks in a row and to figure out who they want to play and where.

Many different players have been linked with an Anfield switch over the last couple of weeks and, now we're edging closer to the deadline, it's time for Richard Hughes and Andoni Iraola to get locked in and get some deals over the line.

They've now signed four players this summer thanks to Bradley Barcola's recent arrival and, while they've managed to address some major problem areas, there are still a couple of question marks hanging over the heads of some positions.

That's why, until the window closes at 11pm on 1 September, nothing can be ruled out.

So, the fact that Liverpool look likely to fight Everton for the transfer of a player this close to the end of the window is hardly surprising.

Before Barcola was signed, Liverpool improving their attack was the main thing on their mind.

Hugo Ekitike's return date still hasn't been shared and, with Mohamed Salah gone, they were left in a bit of a tricky situation.

Of course, Iraola was looking at all of his players as if they were new signings but players such as Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa still failed to prove their worth.

This led to fans becoming rather worried as, with their £450 million spend on new talent last summer, it wasn't clear how much was left in the war chest.

However, now that their reserves have been blown out of the water by Barcola's transfer, some cheaper deals are certainly needed.

That's where VfB Stuttgart's Jamie Leweling comes in.

"AS Roma has improved its offer for Jamie Leweling, Bild also reports," Sky Germany journalis Dennis Bayer shared via X.

"According to Sky info, the CL club is offering 30 million plus 5 million bonus. No club agreement yet. Leweling has not yet made a decision about his future.

"Everton and Liverpool are also in the mix."

Despite just signing Barcola, aside from Federico Chiesa, Liverpool still don't have a recognised right-winger among their ranks.

Indeed, most of their attackers can play there if needed but, each of them seem to perform much better when used on the left.

Much like Barcola and Munoz, Leweling is a very versatile player.

The German is only 25 years old but he's managed to play an awful lot of games thus far.

Throughout his entire career the right-winger has scored 31 goals across all competitions and, although he was used more on the left last term, across the entirety of his career, he's played as a right-winger the most.

However, much like Sarr and Minteh, one of the main problems Liverpool will have if they try to sign him is the number of non-homegrown spots that they have available.

Indeed, some players could be sacrificed to make things work but, it's unclear whether Leweling would be any better than the options they currently have, especially since he's never played outside of Germany.

But, with him being much cheaper than Liverpool's two options, he could be a risk worth taking.
