André hails goal, Dorival’s trust and eyes season with Corinthians

Corinthians defeated Ponte Preta 3-0 this Sunday (11), at the Neo Química Arena, in the first round of the Paulista Championship. Scorer of one of the goals in the match, André spoke after the game about the goal, the confidence received from the coaching staff, the competition for a spot in the squad, and expectations for the 2026 season.

Asked about the goal scored in the match, André “Very happy, right? I just have to thank God for the goal. There, Matheuzinho hits it hard, it bounced off me and went in. The important thing is to hit the net, right? Let's go!”, the player responded.

Subsequently, the midfielder commented on the confidence received from Dorival Júnior, after being used in the Brazil Cup final and starting the match as a starter in the Paulistão.

“I just have to thank Dorival for the opportunities he has been giving me. I believe I am showing it in training and, little by little, in the games. He is gaining confidence in me. He always talks to me to play calmly, without pressure, to play my game. He gives a lot of tranquility, he, Lucas, and the entire staff”, he added.

André was also questioned about the midfield scenario after Maycon's departure and the possibility of gaining more space in the squad.

“Maycon's departure, whether we like it or not, opened up more space. But when they are hiring, the day-to-day will show if I will have a chance to play or not. If tomorrow I let my guard down, I won't play anymore. So it's about maintaining the day-to-day, always showing up and not letting it drop,” said André.

With three goals scored for Corinthians, André also commented on his more frequent presence in the opponent's area.

“Yes, I believe the coaches always told me to step into the area because the ball would always be left over. Now that I'm doing this, the ball is indeed left over. Thank God, today I managed to score another one.”

Finally, the player projected his goals and expectations for the upcoming season.

“I want it to be a year full of titles. Last year we won two, I participated in one. May it be a year of fighting, reaching the top, and at the end of the year, celebrating once again,” he concluded.
