Corinthians exited the Libertadores with a 1-0 defeat to Estudiantes on Wednesday, a night that also marked André Luiz’s return after a month out.
The midfielder, wearing 49, replaced André Carrillo 25 minutes into the second half. According to Meu Timao, he had been sidelined since early August with a grade 2 right hamstring injury sustained after the Copa do Brasil last 16 second leg against Internacional, missing nine games.
His absence covered six Brasileirão fixtures and three in the Libertadores, including both ties with Rosario Central and the first meeting with Estudiantes.
In his position, Fernando Diniz turned chiefly to Raniele and Allan, with Carrillo also used. Charles started once, against Flamengo.
During the period without André Luiz, Corinthians recorded two wins, two draws and five defeats. The medical room remains busy, with André Ramalho, Zakaria Labyad, Kayke and Yuri Alberto still in treatment.
With the Libertadores campaign over, Corinthians now focus solely on the Campeonato Brasileiro. They host Fluminense at the Neo Química Arena on Sunday at 16:00 in round 28.
