André Luiz has made a promising start to 2026 at Corinthians, consolidating his place under Dorival Júnior. According to Meu Timao, the 19-year-old midfielder is earning increased minutes.
He has appeared in five of the club's six matches so far, missing only the 3-0 defeat at Red Bull Bragantino away in the second round of the Paulistão. Including 27 minutes against Bahia in the Campeonato Brasileiro opener, he has logged 375 minutes across five games, an average of 75 per match.
Promoted to the senior squad in September 2025, he played 12 times last season for a total of 368 minutes, averaging 30 per game. The number 49 has already exceeded last year's total and more than doubled his average time on the pitch.
His rise reflects the current squad context. Maycon's departure and José Martínez's delayed return created gaps in midfield, while Rodrigo Garro's left wrist scaphoid surgery pushed Breno Bidon into a more advanced role, opening minutes for the youngster.
Off the pitch, he signed a new deal in August 2025 running to 2029. The contract significantly increased his release clauses, to R$ 112 million domestically, up from R$ 28 million, and €100 million for foreign clubs.
Corinthians now turn to the Supercopa do Brasil final against Flamengo at Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília on Sunday 1 February at 16:00, with André Luiz available for selection.
