FC Dallas Technical Director, Andre Zanotta, recounted the events of last month’s transfer that saw his side sell young American right back, Bryan Reynolds, to Roma on a permanent deal.

“This deal was a rollercoaster,” Zanotta told MLSsoccer.com. “In the end, we feel very happy that he’s going to such a great club.”

The Brazilian executive admitted that he didn’t expect the youngster’s ascension to happy so quickly. Reynold’s brief yet impressive stint in MLS caught the attention of several important European clubs, including Juventus and Brugge.

“We didn’t expect it to be that fast. Just six months earlier we sold Reggie Cannon. We were sure we had the replacement in-house, we didn’t need to bring in any other right back because it was the time for Bryan to step up. I had high expectations for him but I didn’t expect after 15 games, all of a sudden he has all these clubs after him.”

When asked about the negotiations with the Giallorossi, he admitted that the arrival of Tiago Pinto in the Italian capital early last month helped expedite talks between the two clubs.

“(When) Tiago started in Roma, who started negotiating with the player again,” Zanotta said.

“That was the issue. On our side was just small details left. In the end, we felt this was the best for us and Bryan. Roma won the race. Bryan is such a great kid and a great talent. I’m very happy for him, I’m sure he’ll do well there. It’ll be fun to watch him.”

The Giallorossi unveiled Reynold’s on Monday after he completed his medicals and signed his contract with the club.

The 19 year-old took part in his first training sessions this week, however, he was not called up for tomorrow’s league fixture against Juventus in Turin.
