Andrés Gómez strikes late to sink São Paulo

Vasco da Gama beat São Paulo 2-1 at São Januário, climbing from 13th to ninth in the Brasileirão, as the visitors dropped from third to fourth.
Luciano put São Paulo ahead in the 10th minute with a close-range finish.
Vasco responded before the break as Rafael saved from David and Cuiabano, and Andrés Gómez rattled the right post during a strong spell.
After the restart, José Luis Rodríguez, on for the injured Paulo Henrique, injected thrust down the right.
A penalty was awarded for a Jonathan Calleri handball, and VAR confirmed the spot kick. Rodríguez converted (72.).
Gómez settled it with a precise right-footed strike into the top left (88.).
Vasco carried the threat with 20 attempts and 62.6% possession. Tricolor Paulista produced 10 efforts, four on target.
