Corinthians’ Ethics and Discipline Committee has set Andrés’ hearing for Thursday, 26 March, after his defence sought a delay amid an internal probe into alleged corporate card misuse during his 2018-2020 presidency.
According to Meu Timao, his lawyer argued the committee was acting with haste while court measures remain in force after a São Paulo prosecution complaint was partly admitted, sought a 15-day window and warned a video hearing could breach a no-contact order with club officials. The club asked the judge to clarify the ban does not block internal testimony, pledged to inform hearing dates to the court and to keep the wider restriction for other interactions.
Committee president Leonardo Pantaleão replied in a formal dispatch, saying earlier requests to the defence were only to confirm any concrete steps enabling Monday’s appearance, which he said could be documented despite judicial secrecy.
He deemed the reasons insufficient, rejected claims of undue haste and stressed the statutory timetable, noting Andrés Sanchez may name three witnesses as part of his defence.
The plea to wait for a judicial ruling before rescheduling was refused, and the case was set for that date. It was chosen on the understanding the judge might have ruled on the legality of Sanchez’s attendance by then.
The committee had first set a videoconference for Monday, 16 March, after receiving full card records on 10 March. The defence sought a postponement on 16 March, then contested the pace a day later.
