Andressa Alves made her comeback from a muscle injury in the back of her left thigh as Corinthians beat Cruzeiro 1-0 in Belo Horizonte on Monday, the first leg of their Brasileirão Feminino quarter-final.

Head coach Emily Lima introduced the midfielder for Tamires in the 26th minute of the second half, ending a run of five games out. According to Meu Timao, she began her return-to-play work on the 20th, then rejoined full training before selection.

Before the lay-off she was a fixture in midfield. In 2026 she has 21 appearances, with four goals and eight assists, sharing the team’s best assist tally with Gabi Zanotti and Belén Aquino.

The return leg is on Monday 7 September at 17:00, with Corinthians at home and the stadium still to be confirmed. The date coincides with Brazil’s Independence Day holiday.

A draw guarantees Corinthians a place in the semi-finals.
