Andrew was added to the CBF’s BID on Tuesday 20, but Flamengo were unable to complete his BIRA registration the same day due to a public holiday in Rio, according to Coluna Do Fla. As a result, the new signing cannot be named for the clássico against Vasco.

Flamengo offered one and a half million euros, roughly nine million four hundred thousand reais, plus 10% of a future sale for his immediate release, which the Portuguese club accepted.

He will wear 42, a tribute to his father, who died aged 42. The goalkeeper has long asked to use that number in his career.

Andrew arrives to compete with Rossi for the starting role. The Argentine is viewed as first choice by the staff, but performances this season will shape Filipe Luís’s call on the number one.
