Andrew Dallas has joined Walsall on a two-year deal and hopes to hit the goal trail after becoming Lee Grant’s first signing.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 26-year-old sealed an EFL move after his release by Barnsley, for whom he played five times following a 2023 switch. He struck 17 goals on loan at Southend United last season in the National League, as they went out in the play-off quarter-finals.
Dallas said he is a striker who runs in behind, links play and, like any forward, wants to score. He reflected on a positive year at Southend, calling them a great club he hopes will be back in the EFL soon, and added that he cannot wait to wear Walsall’s shirt and start quickly.
He also had League Two loans with Barrow and Morecambe in 2024-25, returning eight goals in total. Before that, the Scot hit 34 for Solihull Moors across 2021 to 2023, having earlier made 10 starts in all competitions for Cambridge United.
Dallas said talks with Walsall had been ongoing for weeks and that, once back from holiday, he was eager to get it done. He said the project outlined by Grant convinced him, citing the fanbase and stadium as key attractions.
Grant believes Dallas arrives at Bescot at an exciting point in his career, highlighting last season’s productive loan that brought 20 goal contributions. He described the forward as hungry for success and a welcome addition, and is pleased the deal is done before pre-season.
