Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has discussed Igor Thiago's first call-up to the Brazil national team.

The Bees' no.9 will join up with Carlo Ancelotti's squad for international friendlies against France and Croatia following Saturday's Premier League clash against Leeds United at Elland Road (8pm kick-off GMT, live on Sky Sports).

Thiago's inclusion in Brazil's squad was confirmed shortly before he struck his 19th goal of the Premier League season - and 22nd in all competitions - against Wolves at Gtech Community Stadium on Monday evening.

"He’s an amazing character and has had a big week with his call-up to Brazil," said Andrews.

"For him, his family and the football club, it’s pretty special.

"Similar to the team, he needs to keep striving, which he will. We’re going to support him like he always have."

The Bees' head coach was also asked about Jordan Henderson, who has been selected in Thomas Tuchel's 35-man England squad for friendlies against Uruguay and Japan at Wembley Stadium.

"It’s not for me to pick people’s squads, but I’m really happy he has stayed in the squad," Andrews added on the 87-cap midfielder.

"He had to work really, really hard to come back into the Premier League after being away for a couple of years.

"What he’s produced for us has been really impressive. I’m delighted for him, and I’m sure he’s got every chance of going to the World Cup."
