The Brazilian flourished under Rosenior last season at Strasbourg, where he played a key role as the Ligue 1 outfit qualified for the Conference League.

Enzo Maresca handed Santos his debut at the Club World Cup last summer, but it’s clear the Italian didn’t fully trust him.

However, with Maresca leaving in January and the subsequent arrival of Rosenior, Santos has arguably been the biggest beneficiary.

The Brazilian has been deployed in a midfield pivot alongside Moises Caicedo with Enzo Fernandez pushed further up the pitch.

Santos looks a different player to the one we saw earlier this season, and he’s revealed what Rosenior has done, which really helped his performance.

“[Enzo] Maresca saw me as a bit more advanced,” he told Geglobo as quoted on X.com.

“Liam [Rosenior] had known me for longer, he knew my potential, he knew things. I started dropping back a bit more, wearing the number five shirt, and that made a big difference in my performance.”

Chelsea looking for new midfielder in the summer

Despite the impressive performances Santos has put in this season, the Blues are thought to be in the market for a midfielder this summer.
