According to L’Équipe, Andy Carroll’s (35) season has ended early at Amiens SC after the former England international picked up an injury to his knee.
There is an expected six-week recovery period for the veteran striker which will mean that he will miss the remaining four games of the season as Les Licornes look for a comfortable midtable finish.
Despite becoming one of the surprises of the summer, when Carroll took his talents to the Somme, leaving behind England and Reading FC for a move to the French second division, the season has not worked out particularly well for the striker.
Carroll has only scored four times in 28 appearances, although as the sporting director John Williams stated for the club, the ex-Liverpool has brought an intangible quality to the team. Highlighting instead his leadership in the side, “He’s helping our young players to develop. He’s a very positive guy in the changing room and on the pitch.”
As for Carroll, the striker remains content in France and has so far enjoyed his time at the club, where his contract lasts until 2025.
