Mohamed Toubache-Ter is reporting that Andy Delort (32) is set for a return to Ligue 1 next season, with up to three clubs potentially interested in the Algerian international.
Delort’s short stint with Qatari side Umm Salal was cut short earlier this season. It came after he collapsed on the pitch during the Qatar Stars Cup final, however, his departure was unrelated to the frightening but ultimately unworrying episode. Following his exit, he returned to Corsica where he underwent a reassuring ECG and L’Équipe understands that the reasons behind leaving Umm Salal were personal.
The French publication added that Delort was seeking a return to Ligue 1, which could become a reality this summer. Toubache-Ter understands that AJ Auxerre, whose return to France’s top flight is all but mathematically assured and AS Saint-Étienne, who are in contention for the final automatic promotion spot, have both enquired about Delort’s availability.
Delort himself, however, is targeting a return to former club Montpellier HSC. Currently without a club, the striker is training with MHSC and the club could make advances towards the end of the month.
