Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is under consideration by Nottingham Forest if they choose to part ways with Nuno Espirito Santo.

Despite leading Forest to a seventh-place finish last season, Nuno’s long-term future is increasingly shaky following reports of a rift with the club’s hierarchy.

The 51-year-old has openly acknowledged significant problems within the Forest squad. He described the squad as ‘unbalanced’ and admitted there has been a lack of proper preparation.

Nuno is worried that the club is ‘very, very far’ from where it should be this season ahead of a European campaign despite signing eight new players.

While it is unclear whether Forest will sack Nuno, they are already drawing up a list of potential replacements. Postecoglou is one of the candidates.

Tottenham fired Postecoglou after a shambolic second season, although he did lead them to Europa League glory courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final.

The Australian was under consideration by Brentford to replace Thomas Frank, who Spurs appointed as his successor, but they eventually hired Keith Andrews.

Postecoglou would welcome the chance to return to Premier League management, having left Tottenham with the feeling of unfinished business.

As speculation continues over his future, Nuno will be focused on leading Forest to two wins from two league matches when they visit Crystal Palace on Sunday.
