Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is still expected to leave the club despite winning the Europa League, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.

“As of Friday morning, Tottenham Hotspur still hadn’t made an official decision on Ange Postecoglou, but the chances of staying had apparently gone down from last week’s five percent,” Delaney wrote.

“His departure is still expected, whenever that may be.”

Claiming the Europa League title to book a spot in the Champions League next season cannot mask the woeful domestic campaign Spurs had, and Postecoglou could eventually pay for it with his job.

They finished 17th in the Premier League after securing just 11 league victories and suffering 22 defeats, and Postecoglou cannot point to the several injuries as an excuse.

Spurs will be forever grateful to the 59-year-old for leading them to their first trophy in 17 years after Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho failed.

However, a change is needed in the dugout, and chairman Daniel Levy must make the right decision this summer.

Postecoglou signed a four-year contract when he joined Tottenham from Celtic in 2023. He guided them to a fifth-place finish, but their huge dip in form this season speaks volumes.

Spurs were tipped to challenge for the Premier League title after nine games but became the first team to avoid relegation in a 38-game campaign following 22 losses.

They should be challenging for the title every season, but are currently far from mounting such a challenge.

A change in ownership is needed, but Postecoglou has done very little to prove that he has what it takes to lead this team to the next level.
