Angers-Lille to be played behind closed doors

Lille OSC’s trip to Angers SCO on Sunday afternoon has been given the go-ahead with the match set to be played behind closed doors, despite calls for the game to be postponed due to storm Pedro affecting the Maine-et-Loire prefecture.
Three departments in France are currently under red flood warnings, as storm Pedro sweeps through the north of the country. Large parts of Angers have been flooded, including the club’s training grounds, but as L’Équipe reports, the Stade Raymond Kopa is not in a flood zone.
Due to this, the match will take place as scheduled on Sunday, but it will be without supporters. As Ouest-France previously reported, due to flooding, transport would be affected, and safety could not be ensured, while police resources are currently mobilised to manage the floods.
Lille are searching for their first league victory in 2026 and only their second in all competitions. Bruno Génésio’s status as head coach had come under question, but club president Olivier Létang has given his support to the former Olympique Lyonnais manager and squashed any rumours,
