Oscar Bobb believes our Anglo Palermitan Trophy victory over fellow CFG side Palermo last night was a positive experience for the entire squad.
Erling Haaland fired us ahead expertly after 25 minutes, before substitute Tijjani Reijnders grabbed an impressive brace in the second period to help us cruise to a 3-0 victory in Sicily.
The encounter marked the celebration of 125 years since Palermo's inception and served as City's first match since our 2025 Club World Cup exit in July.
Bobb, who missed almost the entirety of last season after suffering a pre-season injury, played the first 45 minutes in Italy and believes the clash served all the players well in their preparation for the new season.
"[It was] good, it’s great to get some minutes, in a lovely stadium," he said.
"I think it’s great for everyone. I think we feel ready, although we still have a week of work ahead of us.
"It’s great to get these games in. It’s [heat and humidity] tiring, but it’s great. It helps me a lot and prepares us for what’s ahead."
New signings James Trafford, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Reijnders all featured in the friendly, whilst Marcus Bettinelli remained in Manchester.
Bobb believes all the new additions have settled into the Club seamlessly and admitted he is thoroughly enjoying playing with them all.
"Marcus [Bettinelli] isn’t here today, but the other four I think, have been great," he declared.
"It’s a pleasure playing with Rayan, the other Rayan and Tijjani.
"They’re all world class players. It’s a pleasure.
"I used to live upstairs in the Academy with him [Trafford], so we’re good and old friends.
"He’s become a great, great goalkeeper."
