Sam Mather has been pictured wearing the gear of his new club, Kayserispor, after leaving Manchester United.

Earlier this week, the Red Devils accepted a bid for an undisclosed fee to sanction Mather’s move to the Super Lig outfit.

The 21-year-old then had the green light to travel to Turkey on Wednesday to undergo his medical and finalise his transfer, spelling the end of his United career.

Manchester Evening News journalist Steven Railston shared a snap this morning of Mather at Kayserispor’s training complex, confirming the ‘hugely exciting’ switch had undergone its final stages before noon.

The attacker will be delighted to have finally sealed a permanent senior deal, given that the agreement initially collapsed when he was supposed to join in the summer.

Mather had held talks with Kayserispor and was keen to get started in his new venture, until talks collapsed at the 11th hour and right on the cusp of the deadline.

He was then left aggrieved at the prospect of playing academy football for another half-season, having already been made aware he wouldn’t be utilised by Ruben Amorim in the first-team squad – despite training with them on numerous occasions.

Could anyone else follow Mather out the door?

Now that it’s all wrapped up, Mather has officially become United’s first departee of January, and it remains to be seen if there’ll be any more.

In the weeks leading up to the winter window, both Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee had been expected to push for moves in hopes of securing increased game time elsewhere.

However, Amorim’s dismissal is thought to have thrown a spanner in the works, as the two Reds are now wanting to stick around and see if their situations change under the next manager/caretaker manager.
