The Ghana Football Association confirmed on Monday night that Thomas Partey would be unable to link up with their team for the October international break “due to medical issues he is currently experiencing”.

Charles Watts reports that his understanding is that the withdrawal is precautionary, as Partey is suffering with an illness. It was agreed that he should stay in London to recover rather than enduring a lot of travel.

Kai Havertz also recently pulled out of international duty with Germany, but again, the decision was made as a precaution.

Watts reported that the sense is that the injury is not one to be overly concerned about. Havertz was fine to finish the Southampton game, but Arsenal didn’t want to take any risks.

With the number of minutes Havertz has played recently, the Gunners thought it was best for him to stay, rest, and be monitored by the club.

Jurrien Timber, Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Martin Odegaard will also miss out on the international break due to injury, though none of them were called up to begin with.

As for those who are involved, we’ve put together a fixture list for the 11 remaining players on international duty this month.
