Things are going well for FC Barcelona at the start of this 2024-25 season. The Catalans have generated a four-point lead over their main rivals in La Liga, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, after the first four matches.

However, one problem that still persists for the Blaugranes is that of injuries, as several of their important players, including Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, and Marc Bernal remain sidelined with different issues.

Fermin Lopez was the latest player to enter this list, as he also suffered a muscle injury while training with the Spain U-21 team. Fermin was called up by Santi Denia for his side’s matches against Scotland and Hungary for the qualifying phase of the U-21 EURO 2025.

But Barcelona’s representation in this team will not diminish, as SPORT reports that Denia has called up another Blaugrana player, Pablo Torre, to replace the injured Fermin Lopez in his squad. Thus, Torre makes his return to the U-21 Spain squad after a break of one year.

The midfielder, who spent the last season on loan at Girona, was last called up by the Spanish U-21 team in September 2023. In that break, he played 34 minutes in a match against Malta, which took place on 8th September, and scored one goal, the fifth of his team on the night.

He also appeared in the match against Scotland on 11th September and provided an assist for the winning goal by Benat Turrientes after coming on in the second half.

This time, Spain is once again set to face Scotland in Tyneside Castle, Edinburgh, and will later play against Hungary at the Szekto Stadium, Kecskemet.

Before the call-up, Torre was training with the Barcelona team that has remained available to Flick for this international break. However, now he has travelled to Madrid to join Santi Denia’s squad.
