Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read is potentially the right-back that Manchester City may look to sign this summer. The Dutch under-21 international is highly regarded. Also his performances for Feyenoord do seemingly have him poised for a big move this summer. City are in the market for a right-back. They could sign a young player in the position given that Matheus Nunes is firmly established as Manchester City’s first-choice right-back. It has now emerged that arguably City’s biggest competitor to sign Givairo Read, Bayern Munich, may be out of the running to sign him. Manchester City seemingly have a clear run at signing Givairo Read ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
Christian Falk has provided a fresh update on Bayern Munich’s interest in signing Givairo Read this summer for CF Bayern Insider. As per Falk’s report, Bayern are focused on extending Konrad Laimer’s contract with the club. If Konrad Laimer does sign a new deal with the Bundesliga champions, they will not be in the market for a right-back this summer. Also, Falk reports that Bayern have cover at right-back. Therefore, they are focused on strengthening other areas of Vincent Kompany’s squad in the summer. Lastly, Falk reports that Manchester City are also interested in signing Givairo Read, and they may hold the ace in the race to sign the 19-year-old full-back.
If Bayern Munich are out of the running to sign Givairo Read, City may have a clear run to sign the exciting young full-back. Dutch publication 1908 has also reported that Manchester City are in pole position to sign Read from Feyenoord. Also, it is reported that Feyenoord could demand a club-record transfer fee to sell Read. Their club-record transfer fee received is the €35 million they received for Igor Paixão from Marseille. Lastly, 1908 reports that Givairo Read has been impressed by Manchester City’s approach.
Givairo Read is a player who fits Manchester City’s profile for a signing. He is young, exceptionally gifted on both sides of the ball, and has plenty of scope for improvement. While Read is only 175 centimetres tall, he reads the game exceptionally well, especially defensively. His ability to read the game allows him to expertly intercept opponents’ attacking moves. In possession, Read also has the makings of a Manchester City full-back. He is exceptional at progressing the ball, and Read’s ability to make forward runs and get into dangerous positions both in and out of possession is also a weapon in his game. Yes, Givairo Read does need to further develop his game, especially physically, but it is easy to see why Manchester City have their eyes on signing him this summer.

Bayern Munich are reportedly out of the race to sign Givairo Read. It would appear that Manchester City have also made their move to sign Feyenoord’s young full-back. It now remains to be seen if City do sign Read this summer. Right now, it does appear that City are poised to do so.
