Another Spain star speaks out in support of Lamine Yamal | OneFootball

Atlético Madrid and Spain star Álex Baena has become the latest member of Luis de la Fuente’s squad to throw his backing behind Lamine Yamal.

This of course comes amid what has been a difficult week to date for the Barcelona youngster.

Lamine was for his part sent home from national team duty with Spain on Tuesday, after undergoing a round of treatment for his pubalgia problems under the supervision of the Barca medical staff.

The situation has since added further weight to the tense relationship between La Roja and the Blaugrana, with the former adamant that they were not informed of these treatment plans ahead of time.

Several members of Spain’s squad have since spoken out in defence of Lamine, adamant that the 18-year-old is doing his utmost to make himself available for club and country alike.

And as alluded to above, the latest player to do so is midfielder Álex Baena.

Speaking during an interview with El Desmarque on Thursday evening, the Atlético Madrid summer signing was adamant that:

“The Lamine Yamal situation? The issue was blown way out of proportion. When you’re talking about a player at a club the size of Barcelona, everything gets magnified much more.”
