Against new-look Ukrainian club

This Thursday, July 9th, we will conclude our training camp with a friendly match at 17:30 CEST in Saalfelden.

Anyone with a passing interest in Ukrainian football may be racking their brains at the name of our opponents, Kharkiv FC. The club that finished fifth last season underwent a rebranding this summer to emphasise its heritage - and Metalist 1925 became Kharkiv FC in June.

While our opponents, like us, will start their league season on 1 August with a home game, head coach Mladen Bartulovic's team are unable to play in their own stadium currently. Due to the Russian attacks, the team from the Eastern Ukrainian city is currently forced to play its home matches in exile in the capital, Kyiv, under strict security measures.

The club has strengthened its squad this summer with several youngsters in midfield and attack, primarily focusing on possession-based football. However, in a recent match against Young Boys, the Ukrainians suffered a 0-2 defeat.
